The architectural and structural type of the vessel is steel, single-hulled, welded, twin-screwed (2 full-turn controllable-pitch propeller columns with an open controllable-pitch propeller), single-decked with an elongated forepart, a free upper deck with a superstructure shifted towards the bow and a two-tiered bridge. The engine room is located in the middle part of the ship. It has a two-shaft diesel power plant that drives the full-turn controllable-pitch propellers. There is a “propeller in a tube” type steering device in the bow part, with five watertight bulkheads reaching the deck, dividing the ship into six watertight compartments. In the aft part of the deck, on the container fittings, it can transport 13 standard 10′ containers or 6 standard 20′ containers, including 2 20′ containers with special diving equipment.
- Execution of search and rescue tasks.
- Rescue operations, providing assistance to vessels in distress, searching, saving, evacuating, and accommodating people, providing them with medical assistance.
- Towing of distressed vessels and objects to a place of refuge, as well as performing sea tows of ships, floating objects, and structures in ice and open water.
- Extinguishing fires on floating and coastal objects, putting out fuel burning on water.
- Technical support for the execution of underwater technical tasks by divers at depths of up to 60 meters.
- Refloating grounded vessels. Ground erosion at depths of up to 40 meters.
- Transferring high-pressure air, electricity, and cargo to the distressed vessel.
- Keeping the distressed vessel afloat: patching up hull damages and pumping out water.
- Patrolling, emergency and rescue duty in navigation areas, offshore oil and gas fields.
- Inspection and cleaning of the underwater part of the hulls of ships, floating, and coastal objects.
The navigation area is unlimited. The operational area includes non-freezing seas as well as non-Arctic freezing seas. With draughts ranging from 4.6 to 4.9 meters, the vessel can operate in scattered shallow ice with a thickness of 0.7 meters at a speed of 5 knots or in a channel behind an icebreaker in solid ice with a thickness of 0.65 meters at a speed of 3 knots.
The vessel is designed according to RS Rules, requirements of international conventions, sanitary rules, safety requirements.
