The architectural and structural design of the ship is steel, single-hulled, welded, twin-screw (2 fully rotating azimuth thrusters), diesel, single-deck, with an excessive freeboard, aft machinery placement, and a 360-degree view wheelhouse. The towing hook, aft, and side bitts ensure towing ships and floating facilities in the open sea. The bow double-drum winch and the bow two-hawse bitt facilitate the towing (mooring) of ships at anchorages and in ports, as well as the escorting of ships. The ship is equipped with a firefighting system for other ships and port facilities, rescue equipment, and equipment for participation in oil spill emergency response, housed in 2 standard 20-foot containers, placed on the aft deck with container fittings.
- towing of ships and floating structures;
- piloting of ships in ports and berthing;
- escort operations at speeds up to 10 knots;
- rescue operations;
- navigation in icy conditions (Arc4 ice reinforcement category sign);
- firefighting on other ships and port facilities;
- icebreaking in solid ice up to 0.8 m thick at speeds of 2 – 5 knots;
- transportation of 2 standard 20-foot containers with equipment for participation in oil spill emergency response (OSER).
Sailing area limited to R2 involves navigating in marine zones where wave heights with a 3% probability reach 7 meters, keeping within 100 miles from a place of refuge and allowing for a distance between refuges of no more than 200 miles. During the summer-autumn period in the Arctic, the vessel navigates through sparse first-year ice up to 0.8 meters thick. In the Arctic’s winter-spring period, the vessel moves through sparse first-year ice up to 0.6 meters thick.
The vessel complies with the requirements of the RS Rules, international Conventions. Sanitary Rules and safety requirements.
